Today’s Challenge: List 5 personal strengths. Are you using them in some capacity in your daily life?
Success is found through discovering and leveraging our strengths. When we are aware of our strengths – what we are good at, what we are passionate about, what really shines through in us – we can channel those to propel us forward. Unfortunately, many people cannot answer the question, “What are your personal strengths?” They have either never thought about it before, or they are struggling with gremlins of unworthiness that won’t allow them to own those strengths. And if you don’t know what your strengths are, you cannot own them and use them.
So awareness is the first step. Don’t know what your strengths are? No worries! There are a million assessments out there – some free, some not. Here are a few of my faves:
- The VIA Character Strengths Survey: viacharacterblog.com (free)
- The Color Code, found at my website: coloryourcharacter.com (free for basic, $30 for full)
- Standout Assessment by Marcus Buckingham: standout.tmbc.com ($15 fee)
Some of my personal strengths are Zest/Enthusiasm, Inventive/Analytical, Motivated/Focused, Social Intelligence, and Love of Learning (VIA Character Strengths). I am a Creator/Advisor (Standout). And I am a Blue-Red (Color Code). While I think each has been at play at different times in my life, it has only been in the last couple of years that I have learned how to channel several at one time for optimized results.
So what are your Strengths? And are you using them??
